After a night at Great Park Live, where do you go to eat? On event nights, food and drinks are sold inside the gates. Beyond the gates, the City of Irvine describes The Canopy as the first retail and dining project for the Great Park neighborhood. Its first tenant, In-N-Out Burger, opened on September 4, 2026.
The opening lines up with the calendar in a useful way. Every big remaining night of Great Park's fall and holiday season falls on a Friday or a Saturday. Those are the two nights the new drive-thru stays open latest. That makes this the first late-fall season with a restaurant on park grounds that is open before and after each of those nights.
The new In-N-Out is a drive-thru at 7900 Great Park Blvd. According to the Orange County Register, it is open 10:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
The hours matter because of a rule at the amphitheater itself. Great Park Live's Know Before You Go page says outside food, meals and snacks are prohibited. The only exceptions are baby food and medically necessary or otherwise required dietary accommodations. So a burger from The Canopy can't come through the gate. It works as an early dinner before the show or a late stop on the way home. With a 1:30 a.m. close on weekends, the late stop works even after the longest event on the calendar.
The Canopy sits in the park's northwest area, near Great Park Live at 300 Corsair. The Irvine Standard places the 12-acre center next to the tennis courts.
Here is how the season's anchor nights line up with the drive-thru's hours. Dial Up's gate time and the end time of the Palm Court lights are the ones to confirm on the official pages closer to the date.
| Night | Day | Event timing | Admission | In-N-Out closes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Halloween Movie Night, Oct. 30 | Friday | Gates 5:30 p.m., films at 6 and 8 p.m. | Free admission and parking | 1:30 a.m. |
| Dial Up Festival, Nov. 7 | Saturday | Check event page | Ticketed | 1:30 a.m. |
| Illuminate Irvine, Dec. 5 | Saturday | 3 to 7 p.m. | Check city page | 1:30 a.m. |
Halloween Movie Night is this Friday, October 30. It is also the one event this season that relaxes the venue's normal policies. The event page lists the plan for the evening.
Two of those lines go against the venue's standing policies. The general FAQ says outside furniture is prohibited at concerts. It also describes a strict no-pets policy that allows only trained service animals. On Halloween night, the family dog and the low-back chairs from the garage can come along. On concert nights, they stay home.
The event page also links to a Tixr ticket page, even though admission is free. Check that link before heading over. The outside-food rule still applies. For a family planning to stay through both films, the simplest plan is to buy dinner inside or eat at The Canopy before the 5:30 gate.
One week later, the setup flips back. The Dial Up Festival is an all-ages throwback show. Great Park Live's event page lists Nelly, Sugar Ray, Lit, Paul Wall, Unwritten Law and more. The festival's own site announces that the California show has moved to Great Park Live, keeping the same Saturday, November 7 date.
None of the Halloween exceptions carry over to a ticketed concert. That means no outside chairs, no pets other than service animals, and no outside food. Parking can be bought online until 11:59 p.m. the day before an event, and day-of parking is sold on-site. The festival's site shows more than one general admission price, so check the official ticket page for the current figure.
This is the night the late hours matter most. The venue only lists its general operating hours as varying by event. Even so, a Saturday show leaves a long window before the drive-thru's 1:30 a.m. close.
The venue is also larger than it was at its last fall season. Great Park Live officially opened June 14, 2024, as the city's temporary outdoor amphitheater. In February 2026, its operator, PSQ Productions, announced that standing general admission shows can now hold up to 10,000 guests. The city also approved expanding the venue's footprint for multi-stage festivals at select events. More capacity means more cars leaving at the same time. That makes a nearby place to wait out the exit line more useful than it was in 2024.
The holiday anchor shifts away from the amphitheater. The City of Irvine's Holidayz at the Park page lists Illuminate Irvine for Saturday, December 5, 3 to 7 p.m. It promises winter activities, holiday shopping, live performances of seasonal classics, and the lighting of the Holiday Tree and Palm Court Arts Complex.
Illuminate Irvine wraps up at 7 p.m., early enough for an ordinary dinner hour. The Palm Court light display also begins December 5. It is open daily from dusk to 9 p.m., with walk-through displays and a family photo spot in Santa's sleigh. That gives weeknight options well past the main event. A school-night walk through the lights still fits inside the drive-thru's 1 a.m. Sunday-through-Thursday close. The city also runs holiday-themed family classes at the park, with registration required through yourirvine.org.
In-N-Out was the first Canopy tenant to open, on September 4. The developer's homepage still says "Coming late 2026" for the center as a whole. In a September 2026 update, the City of Irvine says the first phase is expected to open in late 2026 and the remaining areas in mid-2027. The developer, ALMQUIST, plans about 90,000 square feet of retail and food space on the 12-acre site. Announced tenants include:
Most of these have no public opening date. Shootz co-founder Michael Dancel told The Irvine Standard that his location will open late this year or in early 2027. He said the team looks forward to "catering to families bringing their kids for soccer practice and hosting a lot of baby showers and birthday parties." The same article reports that T&T will be the chain's first Orange County store. Estimates for the grocer's opening vary. In March 2026, the Orange County Register reported it was expected by early 2027. A July 2026 Secret Los Angeles article put it at late 2026.
Farther out, the city's September 2026 Great Park construction report covers the next pieces. Hangar 10 is a former aircraft hangar being converted for food, drinks, retail and recreation. Construction is expected to start in December 2026 and finish in summer 2027. Site work for the second Canopy phase is expected to wrap up in winter 2027/28. The Great Park Lakes are forecast to start construction in spring 2027, and a permanent amphitheater for about 10,000 people is forecast for construction in 2028 to 2030. All of these dates are planned schedules. The drive-thru at 7900 Great Park Blvd is the Canopy opening with confirmed hours for this fall and holiday season.
